Spokane Public Schools Equity Department
Did you know that Spokane Public Schools has an Equity Department?  As it pertains to young people, their mission is to ensure elimination of prejudice, bigotry, discrimination, harassment and bullying in our schools, to improve achievement for all students, to bring parents/guardians and the community into the learning circle, address racial/cultural integration and recognize the strength of diversity and to address language needs of all students.  They have some great staff who care about all students!

Safe Schools, Healthy Students
The Safe Schools/Healthy Students Initiative is a collaborative effort between Spokane Public Schools, Educational Service District 101 and a variety of community partners. The initiative will serve six schools districts including Spokane Public Schools, Cheney, Medical Lake, Nine Mile, Riverside and Deer Park. The overarching goal of this initiative is to create a comprehensive county-wide safety system to strengthen and expand existing community partnerships and link to a broader range of community resources. The initiative is support by the Department of Education, Department of Juvenile Justice and the Department of Health and Social Services.
