Odyssey is searching for a new member of our staff to assist with communications, including social media. Individuals of all experience levels are invited to apply, including young adult voices interested in making a difference in our community. Communications Coordinator
Classification
$15-$16 an hour
Half time 20 hours a week
Position for one year (12 month) term
Reports to Executive Director
Position Overview
The Communications Coordinator is responsible for working alongside Odyssey staff for the creation of both external and internal communications. This includes Odyssey’s social media presence, promotional materials, and other online platforms.
Key Duties Include:
External Communications and Marketing
Update content of Odyssey’s online platforms including website, blog, & social media.
Develop a social media schedule for regular posting by other Odyssey staff and volunteers
Work alongside the Executive Director to promote major events
Youth Program Communications
Work alongside the Director of Advocacy and Education to relaunch and expand Odyssey’s YouTube and Google Classroom platforms
Create graphics for Odyssey youth drop-in programs
Internal Communications
Alongside coworkers, update Odyssey training and handbooks for virtual programming
Qualifications
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Experience and skill in utilizing technology, including social media platforms, graphic design, and email management.
Experience in representing an organization, group, or business on social media platforms such as Instagram, Facebook, and YouTube
Collaboration skills across a variety of groups
Understanding of the LGBTQ+ youth experience
Excellent time management, ability to advance multiple projects with varying timelines
Preferred Skills and Experience
Professional or volunteer experience with LGBTQ+ youth
1-2 years’ experience in web editing and graphic design
Familiarity with programs like Photoshop and InDesign
Schedule:
Odyssey provides a flexible work schedule for staff. The Communications Coordinator will be required to collaborate in-person with other Odyssey staff during the Monday-Friday work week, and is also allowed regular pre-determined work from home, as approved by their supervisor (Executive Director).
